Your son sounds like my son – i used to be soo concerned as well. But now at 6 months old, he socializes just fine – even says words. Your son seems to be very attentive to details. He’s curious and likes to explore new things. Of course they say a smiling face is the best for a baby, but i used to sit there smiling and laughing at dylan and he’d just turn away.

Of course the first thing you think is autism.. but that’s definitely something that you can’t diagnose based on a baby being interested in fans, trees, nature, clocks… that’s normal for babies!!

As he gets older, he most likely will get bored fast. Get him toys that are stimulating for his age group, and consider baby einstein movies. when dylan was fussing and screaming for hours, the baby einstein collection was the ONLY thing that would get him to stop!! he’d be smiling in no time… and totally silent.

I felt like a failure because mommy couldn’t comfort him as well as a stupid dvd lol. but every baby is different. your little guy seems smart. he knows what a face looks like, and he knows your there.. he trusts you and can recognize you already, so he’s onto the next adventure.

he is fine there are just so many fascinating things for him to see. congrtulations on your new addition!

He is only 6 1/2 weeks old. Be thankful he is responding to anything at this age. Believe me, he will start responding to you and your mate soon enough.

There is nothing wrong with him.
