Mail this postVery nice !!
Where on earth did you find all these things? lol Point me in the right direction so I can go beha hunting.
Looks like the huge cuckoo quail hunters I saw in my antiques place earlier this year very similar design and same size.
Hey, please show off the clock on the left. It looks really unusual.
This also reminds me. I have a book “Masterpieces of the Time Museum” (Sotheby’s catalogue) and it has a “clock peddler” that looks nearly identical to yours. I can get you a clear photo of that page if you like.
Sooth-
Yes I am familier with the peddler that sold from the Time Museums Collection. I think it brought about $5K.
Sure send me a scan would love to keep it on file.
The clock on the left you speak of is a very special piece.
It is a 18th C. Black Forest Harp Clock (Hackbrettuhr C. 1780-1800)
It plays 6 or 8 tunes (will check it) on 16 strings.
It is 100% compleate but needs tuning and some restoration… I will do a video when finished. Should be early 2010.
Best
I have found my clocks all over the world…
England, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, and even sometimes in the US.
Most good stuff never hits the market…
You have to know where its at and be ready to move before it goes public.
The recent economy has put many clocks that were not for sale as availible for the right price.
Takes time to get the connections.
Yes you can find hunters here and there… the real early examples with this level of carving are scarse.
This piece is unique due to the massive music box… the largest I have ever seen in a wall cuckoo.
The box could use a little work to sound better.
I will pull it off the wall some time and take a pic…
I know where there are 5 of the Beha Cuckoos with bells… just a matter of time until one breaks loose.
if you have a quail cuckoo clock can you post it
Well see one breaks loose and into my hands.
Or better tell me where
