I took the clock to a local clock repair/antique clock retail store.
He checked the clock out and told me it was a great clock but needed some maintenance.

Because he only deals in clocks he gave me an good estimate in his opinion of what the clock was worth. I then knew the date the clock was made and the history behind the clock.

I also checked on ebay for a similar clocks and found the estimated price was correct.

There are also lots of books that have history of clocks and prices.</description>
