Grandfather clocks do go for quite a bit (anywhere from £500 +) if in good order. I used to work for an auctioneers and we sold loads in our two day specialist clock and watch sales that we held three times a year. I think you’re best off taking lots of pics of your clock and emailing some specialist auctioneers to get their opinion. Try to give as much information as possible. If it’s 37 years old, it ain’t an antique.

Did clock repair for years; and valued and sold a few.

a 1970 clock is no one’s antique. Sounds like a standard Ridgeway triple chime grandfather clock; unless there is a really detailed tubular bell mechanism, probably around a grand. Remember they made about 40 different clocks during that time, and the case and the mech differences make a bif difference.

condition and age is everything, being only 37 years old, it will most likely be worth about what it cost new. It will not be considered a collectors item and will be valueable only to someone that likes it as a stand up clock.

go to ebay and find similar seeling price, this is a pretty good estimate of value
