"since you need a clock on the top of the wall, and dont want to hang anything on your wall, the only options left would be a tall antique clock that stands up high, which would easily cost you ,000.
why dont you just get a table for 0 and then place a clock on top of it? it's way cheaper, and you get to see the clock on the wall, without compromising on the price either."

My 90 year old Aunt has an antique clock she tells me was made in 1865. It has a wrought iron case with "ears" on either side and a ceramic face. It also has a figure of a viking on the right side holding an axe aloft and wearing a round shield on his left arm. Clock and viking are roughly a foot high, from a four footed base roughly two feet long and eight inches deep. She would not let me move it to look for a makers mark as she says she has only recently gotten it running again. I would like to find a provenance for her if I can. Any help would be appreciated.
As far as I know, no name on the back.

Hi all. Has anyone tried going through airport security with an antique clock in a carry-on bag? I want to bring my antique crystal regulator clock from Japan to the US and I am not sure if I will be allowed to put it in my carry-on baggage. The clock is pretty heavy, somewhere around 7kg. It's made out of bronze, marble, glass, and porcelain. Thanks.

I have an old antique clock that I have to get rid of. I need to sell it but I have no idea how to tell what it is worth. This I do know. The clock is so old that all the parts are wooden. The wheels inside are made of wood. One part is made of string but everything inside is made of wood except for tiny little clips.
I know that it went to Germany years ago...I think during the war and back. It was taken apart and all the pieces were wrapped up to prevent breaking. Well to this day it still remains in a box with the piecse wrapped. It will take someone who knows how to put it together. How can I detremine the age and value? NO markings that I can find..not even on the face. I hate to let it go but I have no other options.

I have an antique clock that has had the innards removed and replaced with a battery-operated gadget. I would like to take it in to have this replaced with something similar to what it originally had. Can this be done? How much would it cost to do this?

Where would I find that kind of thing? I think I might have found one on Amazon that looks like an antique clock, but it uses AA batteries. Would it still have the gears and such if it uses batteries? It's supposed to be a gift for someone who likes taking apart things, so I really do not want anything over-the-top pricey.

I received a valuable porcelian antique clock from an aunt that passed away recently and it shattered recently. I gathered the parts to the mechanics up and its still working only the porcelian broke. It was manufactered by the Ansonia clock company and stamped on the back of the time piece is," patented June 18, 1882", there is also a number 4 stamped on it. The glass is beveled and the key works through the front by openning the glass. I beleive it can be used for making another clock but Im not of the mind to do it or finacially able. Is there a market for such items?

I am trying to sell an antique clock that is made by S. Smith & Son. On the face of the clock it says 'S. Smith & Son', under that is says '9. Strand' and under that is says 'Paris Made'. I googled S. Smith and Son but can't seem to find much information on it or find out how much my clock it worth or when it was made. If anyone has any information on this company or any way I could find out when it was made, ETC, it would be a huge help. Here is a link to the photo:

A long time ago my husband bought an antique clock that had a square lock key to wind it up at the front. We have lost the key but would love to wind the clock up & get it chiming again.
Do you know where we might be able to purchase another key or even how to make the clock work without it.

Clock was given to me. It is my first antique clock. It has two holes on the front for winding. I think it has to be wound every seven days. A short time after receiving the clock it stopped. I took it to a repair shop and they said the mechanics just needed cleaning. They cleaned it and it worked fine, even the chimes. Then we went on vacation for two weeks and when we returned I set the clock and winded. It did not even run for an entire day. Maybe I need instuctions on setting properly. Please help!
