I've inherited a wooden carved antique cuckoo clock manufactured by Hubert Herr from Germany.
It's been in the family for at least two decades (I've been told three, though), which means that it was either manufactured during the 1800's, or the early 1900's.
Is there a way to tell for sure?
I've also been told that the numbers on the weights can be indicative (the numbers say 1500).
Your feedback will be much appreciated!

To saaanen: I'm well aware that the numbers on the weights refer to the weight. The weight itself can be indicative of the age, though.

This is my favourite one because my Aunty Karmel bought it for my mother. It has two pine cones which are really heavy and it comes all the way from Germany, where is it made by Schneider (www.cuckooclocks-schneider.com If I'm really good in Tamar I may get to go to Germany where perhaps I can meet Jack who runs cuckoo clock tours. My mother's clock has a bird on it and a cuckoo in it. It also has pink edelwiess, which is like a song from the Sound of Music. While I am a boy I do like the colour pink. I do hope you enjoy my cuckoo clock and if you are from Ohio, is the world's largest cuckoo clock working (it used to be in Wilmott). Bye for now.

For people to be in tip-top mental health condition, there should be very little lingering feelings of shame, guilt and self-loathing, right? If you think sex is “sinful” and if you think ones body must remain untouched to be considered “sacred,” then it means that there is a pretty high likelihood for feelings of guilt, shame and self-loathing, right? Now, most religions do teach people that sexual pleasure outside marriage is “sinful” and they teach people that the body should remain a temple unspoiled and “sacred” until marriage. But not many people can wait until marriage these days so we have people with feelings of shame, guilt and self-loathing and it’s all because of religion, right? Religion has turned society into one big cuckoo clock, right?

The other night I was invited out for a night with “the girls.” I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, “I promise!”
Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easy. Around 3 a.m., a bit loaded, I headed for home.
Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. (Even when totally smashed…3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos =MIDNIGHT!)
The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, and I told him “Midnight”. He didn’t seem mad at all. Whew! Got away with that one!
Then he said, “We need a new cuckoo clock.”
When I asked her, “Why?” she said, “Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, “Oh Shit”, cuckooed 4 more times, cleared it’s throat, cuckooed another 3 times, burped, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.”

This is totally random but came up earlier today. There is a movie in which a male actor covers his face with his hands and then opens them like the doors of a cuckoo clock and makes the noise and acts like the person he's talking to/about is crazy. My boss and I earlier were trying out hardest to remember who it was or what movie it was from. For some reason im really wanting to say Ben Stiller, and he also said he thought it may be Owen Wilson or Adam Sandler...but we couldnt narrow it down....if anyone knows what im talking about thanks!

I recently inherited an old Cuckoo clock, and it's one of the really old ones, that uses weights and the pendulum to run.
Unfortunately, in transport, the weight on the pendulum was moved further down, thus knocking out the time. And I'm not sure as to how fast it should swing, my efforts so far have proved fruitless with it either running too slow or too fast.
I thought it was to "click" twice a second.
Ie, one "tick-tock" every second, but that didn't work, it could just be that I didn't adjust it accurately enough though.
