I have an antique, priceless heirloom clock which is absolutely precious to me and my entire family. I tried to get if from the wall to adjust is in this twice-yearly ritual of Daylight Savings Time and i dropped this piece on the floor and it's now pulverized.
I think that the government or whoever controls this idiotic ritual owes me at least 4 million dollars, plus triple for pain and suffering. Who can I call to help me recover this money and to punish the government?

My 90 year old Aunt has an antique clock she tells me was made in 1865. It has a wrought iron case with "ears" on either side and a ceramic face. It also has a figure of a viking on the right side holding an axe aloft and wearing a round shield on his left arm. Clock and viking are roughly a foot high, from a four footed base roughly two feet long and eight inches deep. She would not let me move it to look for a makers mark as she says she has only recently gotten it running again. I would like to find a provenance for her if I can. Any help would be appreciated.
As far as I know, no name on the back.

My boyfriend and I always try and get each other unique gifts, but I'm about out of ideas for him.
He's an old-fashioned sort of guy, he likes railroads, antiques, clocks, skeleton keys, ships (the Titanic in particular, which we both like). Just old stuff in general. I bought him two antique railroad locks for his birthday and he loved them.

Hi all. Has anyone tried going through airport security with an antique clock in a carry-on bag? I want to bring my antique crystal regulator clock from Japan to the US and I am not sure if I will be allowed to put it in my carry-on baggage. The clock is pretty heavy, somewhere around 7kg. It's made out of bronze, marble, glass, and porcelain. Thanks.

the kind of work I do is like , antique clocks & furniture restoration & i do this in a basement wich I think has some areas with mold and , and i do not get to move around , i'm like sitting down all the time and i work with different kind of quemicals , like shellac , denature alcohol , varnishes ,stains , paint thiners , oil base paints , some times we have to sand wood and there is the dust in the air . AND I HAVE LUPUS.

I've inherited a wooden carved antique cuckoo clock manufactured by Hubert Herr from Germany.
It's been in the family for at least two decades (I've been told three, though), which means that it was either manufactured during the 1800's, or the early 1900's.
Is there a way to tell for sure?
I've also been told that the numbers on the weights can be indicative (the numbers say 1500).
Your feedback will be much appreciated!

To saaanen: I'm well aware that the numbers on the weights refer to the weight. The weight itself can be indicative of the age, though.

They re-grease it too, right? I bought a clock from an antique shop that wouldn't work, got a deal on it. I took it home, took the face off, and sprayed some WD40 on the motor. Now it works fine. Is this all the clock shop does when they clean a clock?
