This cuckoo clock was made in Germany ca. 1880. The case is 19 3/4 inches tall and 15 inches wide. The overall dial diameter is 6 3/16 inches. The weights are 2 pounds 11 ounces each. The pendulum is 10 7/16 inches long, and the disc diameter is 3 1/4 inches.

Hello Everyone,
I lived for 11 years in Georgia and moved 5 years ago back to Germany. In two weeks I will attend a wedding of a friend of mine in Michigan. The couple is around 25 and I like to buy them something typical German for the wedding gift. Since they are still young, I don´t want them to a cuckoo clock, a stein or something like it. And since don´t want to spend more like 250 Euro or so, I can´t afford to get them a nice German automobile 
Since I live in the town which produced originally all the Zeppelins including the Hindenburg …I thought I get something towards this direction, but I am not sure what.
Do you guys have an idea of what would be a real cool gift for them?

what´s the main belief about germany in the us? i´m searching for the funniest prejudice and the most popular aspects about the "krauts". what do you really really know?
for example: all germans wear leather trousers and live in tiny little hobbit-like-houses.
or: one of the best things from germany is the cuckoo clock.

I am traveling in good old wonderful Germany and having a fantastic time. I am wondering what would be some of the coolest things to bring home for myself or as gifts for family and friends. Things that are made in Germany or really say "Germany" somehow. Things that I can fit in my airline baggage or carry on the plane. Things I can't get at home or that would be a neat souvenir.
OK, I know that great memories and wonderful photos are two of the top things to bring back and I am doing fantastic with those two things, but do any Yahooer's out there have some other great ideas besides the cliché cuckoo clocks and beer mugs. (Although I admit that I already bought 6 cool beer mugs at a Munich Flea Market that I am going to use in my new Beer Garden that I will set up in my backyard!) I also found a couple of cool German board games that look like fun. Finally, I bought a couple of neat small "Made in Germany" LED pocket-flashlights by LiteXpress and a hi-tech AA battery charger at the Conrad store. They don't sell those specific products in the USA. Well, what do you think? I would love to hear of some fantastic and creative ideas from you! Danke!
(PS: Anyone know of the lowest cost way to ship a box of books from Germany to USA? Maybe shipping by boat, and saving money because of the longer shipping time than by the regular ways of postal service or UPS?)

I'm coming to the end of my two month stay in Germany and I still have no idea what to buy for gifts. I've got about 10 or 15 € left for prezzies for each of my sisters, maybe 20 or 25 € for mum, and about 5 € (maybe a little more, we'll see) for each of my three best friends. I have some Didl Maus stuff already for them all.
What can I get them that is typically German? I can't buy sausages, (wurst) because New Zealand has really strict Customs policies on food. I'm not sure about chocolate, because that's not exactly a lasting souvenir. And when I asked my host sister what is typically German, she came up with 'cuckoo clocks'. I'm sure my mum would love a cuckoo clock, (well, not totally sure), but they tend to be a bit on the expensive side, and if it got broken in transit, it would be terrible.
