Here we have a Woodcutter Cuckoo Clock. This is another clock prized among collectors. This clock is highly animated with two men sawing wood as the pendulum swings, a man chopping a block of wood as the music plays, while the water wheel spins on the right.

I made the case for this clock out of solid fiddle-back Maple, Cherry, and Black Walnut. The hands are Cherry. The pendulum was made of Cherry, Black Walnut, and Abalone shell. The only parts I did not make are the all wood vinage whistles(with recovered bellows), the gong(2 3"70mm new), the vintage dial, the movment(cuckoo clock mfg. co.), the chains and weights. I cleaned, oiled and adjusted the movement. The Maple face piece is only 4 1/4 inches wide by 4 3/4 inches on the ends and 6 inches tall in the center. Over all it is 9 1/4 inches tall from the top of the Walnut crest to the very bottom of the Walnut scrollwork. It now keeps perfect time and is a unique piece designed by myself.

Movement marked DRGM (Deutsches Reich Gebrauchmuster) which dates it to before 1945. I bought it online as"tested,working great". It did not even chime when the hands were turned. I had to dismantle the entire clock, clean, oil, and adjust the movement and reassemble everything. The crest needed the two loops replaced that holds it to the roofline(it had one large staple in one side). It also needed the bellows releathered and a matching minute hand was replaced by me. It is a 3 train, turntable, large fan, lyre type count wheel movement with a Thornes music movement. These are quite rare and hard to find. The weights are quite heavy and only run the clock for one day. This one is fully adjusted now and oiled ready for many more cuckoos. The little people come out every 30 minutes to dance around twice, hand in hand, before going back inside waiting to celebrate the next half hour. The case is 19 1/2" by 13 3/4". It has a nice large pendulum with a very long swing. You can see it dwarfs the 9" cuckoo that is hanging beside it for the moment.

Three rare minature cuckoo clocks with similar brass triple plate movements. All have the time in front of the chime train seperated by a center plate (instead of the common way with the time and chime beside each other within a single pair of plates) . These are all very small and have special whistels with the low tone having a 90 degree bend at the bottom of the case and going slightly forward to make the different tone.

For me, this song has been a defining song for the past 5 years of my life. It was VERY difficult to put it to life. It pretty much covers what I have been through. One special person has been asking me repeatedly to do a video for it for quite some time. Finally, I have healed enough to almost do it justice. There is still evidence of the pain buried 5 layers deep in here, but for the most part, I feel it represents what the artists were saying. From Wikipedia: The song's lyrical themes include contrast, contradictions and urgency. Chris Martin sings of being in the state of "helplessness ... in a dysfunctional relationship he doesn't necessarily want to escape". The lyrics are cryptic; the ending lines of the second verse emphasize contradicting emotion: "Come out upon my seas/Cursed missed opportunities/Am I a part of the cure/Or am I part of the disease?". The song's title also "metaphorically alludes" to its lyrics, "pushing one to wonder about the worlds obsession with time while connecting it to the theory: make the best of it when were here, present and alive". This large and beautifully-carved cuckoo clock speaks of old-world charm and craftsmanship. The carving shows a still life of the life of a hunter. It's dimensional carvings include hunting trophies, live game (including beautifully carved squirrels holding acorns), a hunting horn, ammunition pouch, and guns, all surrounded by carved oak leaves.
