Well think about the way the books are written…they are targeting a certain audience. But I definitely would not say all vampire books are bad. C’mon Anne Rice is an amazing author! But really…I do understand where you are coming from, I just think people are writing crap to jump on the vampire bandwagon because they know it will SELL. Its the crazy now days, will fade eventually.

I suppose it’s because after the "success"(and by this I mean in terms of revenue, not literary excellence) of Twilight, people wanted to mimic that so they too could be rich. What they fail to grasp is that copying something that’s already there is pointless. Why write something that’s already been more successful than yours will be? Basically they’re a bunch of idiots.

As for the classics, I agree that they should be read and they’re beautiful and moving, but I guess at some point we have to realize that there are modern calssis too so we are also recognizing the authors of today as worthwhile.

You’re right. And many authors write about vampires who are good-looking. Please, I’ve read several and most are obvious. Can anyone write a better book? Seriously, it’s getting boring, no matter how romantic it is. The characters aren’t so interesting. Bella Cullen frustrates me. Edward Cullen is like a drug that’s too bad. Zoe Redbird is okay, I guess. Blue Bloods is interesting but the characters don’t fascinate me that much.

There’s the Vampire Bomb. Many teens (and even tweens) are hungry for it. The idea of having their own Edward Cullen or whatsoever is exciting. They cling on the dream that he’ll be outside the window. Or that they could be cool like that.

I prefer the books Graceling and Fire–both by Kristin Cashore. Amazing books.
